H2O University: K-12 Grade Students

The Orange County Water District (OCWD) and the Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD) are committed to providing programs that educate students about water-related and conservation issues. Never has there been a more important time to teach children that they can make “Blue” and “Green” choices to help protect our water resources and environment for today, tomorrow and the future. An investment made in today’s youth is an investment in our water future.

Here is a list of educational program offerings for various grade levels.

OC Water Hero Program

oc-water-heroThe O.C. Water Hero Program was begun by OCWD in partnership with the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) to encourage the youngest water users to curtail water usage. The program teaches children in K-6th grade simple ways to conserve 20 gallons (.02 cubic meters) of water per person, per day. To become O.C. Water Heroes, kids pledge to save water by doing things such as turning off the water when brushing their teeth and taking five-minute or less showers.

After pledging to save, each hero receives a kit filled with activity sheets, water saving tips and prizes. For more information, to learn how kids can become a. O.C. Water Superhero, or to sign up, go to www.ocwaterhero.com or call (714) 378-3200.
